The Razzies'The Last Airbender,' 'Twilight Saga: Eclipse' Lead Razzie Nominations

by C.J. Perry

The Golden Globes are history, and the Academy Awards nominations will be out on Tuesday morning. And while Hollywood enjoys celebrating the best (at least what it perceives to be the best) of the past year, the Golden Raspberry Awards—yes, the Razzies—acknowledge and celebrate the worst.

From the painfully unfunny, like “Vampires Suck” to the painfully moody and angst ridden (“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”) to the painfully bewildering (“The Last Airbender”), this year’s Worst Picture category (which could be expanded to 10, much like the Academy Awards), also includes “The Bounty Hunter” and “Sex and the City 2.”

Ashton Kutcher has the honor for being nominated as Worst Actor in two films for 2010, as did Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattison (both nominated for “Eclipse”), and Jennifer Aniston was nominated for Worst Actress in two films as well: “The Bounty Hunter” and “The Switch.” Jessica Alba was nominated as Worst Supporting Actress for four movies--essentially everything she appeared in during the year.

The Razzies are also taking aim at this year’s most annoying trend—the puzzling deluge of 3D films. “The Last Airbender” can count a nod for Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3D as one of its nine nominations, as well as Worst Director for M. Night Shyamalan. “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” tied “Airbender” for the lead with nine nominations as well.
